My name is Stephanie Gray. For elementary school I went to Euclid. I went to River Trails for middle school. Currently I go to John Hersey High School.
The first time I realized that I wanted to be a teacher was the first time that I visited my moms classroom. My mom is extremely passionate about her classroom and her students. The way she set up her classroom and the way she taught was really inspiring to me. Ever since then I have known that one day I want to become a teacher.
My favorite teacher by far was my second grade teacher. Her name was Mrs. Kerstein and I definitely became a different person after I left her classroom. When I began second grade I had a behavior chart that kept track of my behavior throughout the day. By the end of second grade I no longer had a behavior chart and I credit Mrs. Kerstein for that. Instead of giving me tallies on the chart she would take time and explain to me what I needed to improve about my behavior. I still keep in touch with Mrs. Kerstein today and everytime I talk to her I am reminded of how great of teacher she was.
Another great teacher I had was my Advanced Comp teacher, Mr. Schiferl. Not only did he teach me numerous new things about my writing, he taught me how to become a good teacher. He is one of the few high school teachers I have had that grade assignments on time and are always willing to give up their free time to help students. I really appreciated everything Mr. Schiferl did for all of his students and I hope to be able to be that supportive to all of my students as well.
Part 2
The purpose for creating this portfolio is so I can have a place to store and organize all of the things I have done throughout my time in the Education Academy. I learned many new things in this class and this portfolio is a great place for me to be able to document all of my experiences. When I am taking Education classes in college I feel that this will be a good place to come back to and reflect on the work I have completed.
